My friend, Christine, and I had a few days away at the cottage last weekend. We brought our sewing machines, projects, and handwork with us, as well as some books to read and good food to eat. It was a pretty relaxing weekend. A storm blew through and the power was off for 12 hours, but we found lots to do. We even toasted bagels and boiled water for tea on the BBQ!
I started a Tiny House quilt (online class by Jo Avery). My houses still need roofs and chimneys but I did didn't have the right colour ...

I am still missing one row, but, I am not sure which one. I would like to see if I can keep going on this one instead of putting it in the ufo closet. But, rhododendron mystery at quiltville has officially started and I will turn some attention to that. I still want to keep going on my 5 quilt project, so, we will see.

I did get the purple semi colons done for the full stop quilt that Angela is doing.
I made it to our Friday quilt group yesterday. I was trying to catch up with my sea swept blocks. I made some progress on the diamond part of the sashing.
The weather has been so nice. High seventies and sunshine. I really don't like when the cicadas make the sound of fall coming. The summer has passed so quickly.
I am still working with darks for the tiny houses and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.
I am working on a more eclectic housing addition for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

Hubby is recovering well from hip replacement surgery. It helps me realize just how much he does around here while I try to pick up the slack. And the zucchini just keeps coming. LOL

this past week I started working on an older ufo - on the go. It was a kit I bought in 2014 for a donation quilt. It is bright and colorful and easy. I added the outside borders this morning. It was raining or I would have a better picture. I have fabric for the binding, but, I will need to find a suitable backing in my stash. Then, it will live with the other quilts waiting to be quilted.
My radishes are ready for harvesting. I picked a mild radish, and, it is too hot for me. Good thing the ...

I finished the quilting for this quilt for a friend. And put my Aunt Eliza's star on the frame.

read moreTiny houses to sew, big house to clean for my daughter's visit next month. Purple is the color for June rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, and one of my favorites. But, there has been so much going on, that I haven't even pulled all the purple scraps out to look at them.
I don't have a finish of my own, but, I have a customer quilt finish. This is a quilt with swap blocks that 5 of us participated in a few years ago. As far as I know, Linda is the first to complete hers. It was such a fun swap. I like how she put it together. One of our swappers had a made a church that was twice the size of our 4 1/2 inch block. She put that in the center.
It was easy to grab the 2 inch strip drawer and cut for tiny houses. I did decide to add other colors to the red. If there was a speck of red, anywhere, I cut it.
I am running low on the solids for psp 20/21. I need to take a count and see if I need other colors.

I make the tiny houses from 2 inch scraps for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This is my second year making them. It will take several years, apparently, to make enough to use in a quilt. They are, after all, tiny.
I have more sunshiny yellow blocks made for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I have started crumb stars just this year. I sit for one evening sewing crumbs in the color of the month. However many I can cut from that, is how many I can make for the month. I am cutting the centers at 4 1/2 inches and using 2 1/2 HSTS - ( half square triangles )
Imagine the perfect neighborhood. Are the homes quaint and colorful? Are the streets lined with stately oaks? (Is there an ice cream shop on the corner??)
Best of all, who lives next door? Is it your dearest friend? Your grandkids? Maybe it’s Jenny Doan!
This week you can stitch up the neighborhood of your dreams with tiny houses, big houses, two-story houses, and even trees made with the scraps! Click HERE to learn how to make this quick and easy layer cake pattern!

I have two postage stamp blocks - psp20 - my goal is 5 new every month this year. It's hard to tell, but these are 2 different pinks. I bought a honey bun especially for making these blocks, but, it has disappeared. So, I will be scrounging through my limited stash of solids. No problem. Maybe, if I pretend I am not interested in finding it, it will show up again. LOL
